Dole Basket Rimini strengthens itself in view of the second part of the championship. Rbr has announced that it has reached an agreement until the end of the season for the arrival in the red and white of Ivan Alipiev, a player of Bulgarian nationality, coming from the Gemini Basket Mestre club also active in Serie A2.

Born on 28 July 1999 in Sofia, Alipiev is a 98 kilos, 2.03 meters tall winger, fresh from the European pre-qualifiers for the World Cup with Bulgaria. Fiba Under 18 European champion in 2017, his basketball career boasts numerous call-ups to the Bulgarian Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 teams up to the senior national team with which he played in the 2022 European Championship.

Alipiev is no stranger to the Italian A2: from 2022 to 2024 he played in Latina Basket, recording 35% from three, 51% from two, 86% from free throws. He comes from Gemini Mestre, with whom he particularly showed off in this first part of the season: in 12 appearances, he averaged 14 points in 29 minutes of use, with 55% from two and 42% from three. He was adding almost 6 rebounds on average to his stats. He made his debut with Mestre in the first leg match against Dole Rimini, last October 12th. On four occasions he scored above 20 points per game: 22 against Pesaro, 26 against Pistoia, 22 against Avellino and 23 against Brindisi. In the first phase of the 2025/26 preseason, Alipiev joined Derthona Basket first and then, from mid-September, Vanoli Basket Cremona in Serie A1.

The new red and white spent last season between the Antwerp Giants in Belgium and Steaua Bucharest in Romania. Previously, Alipiev played with Buba Basketball in Bulgaria, with Levski Sofia and Akademik Sofia in the Bulgarian top flight. His training also includes US basketball, thanks to four years of college at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where – in addition to graduating – he became one of the favorite players of Californian fans.

These are the words of Rbr’s technical director, Alessandro Bolognesi: “At this moment of the season we needed to add a player to lend a hand to our long department. We saw in Ivan the right piece to insert into our mechanisms: we believe he has the technical characteristics, experience and knowledge of the championship that we were looking for. He arrives in Rimini driven by great motivation and a great desire to start this new path and to help us continue on our path”.
