The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated this Saturday (02/28/2026) that Israel has launched a “preventive strike against Iran” to “eliminate threats” to its country, after which anti-missile alarms have sounded in Israeli territory.
“An attack with missiles and drones is expected against the State of Israel and its civilian population in the immediate future,” Defense reported in a statement sent at 8:15 local time, in which it indicated that Defense Minister Israel Katz has declared a state of emergency throughout the country. In that document Katz declares a state of emergency for a duration of 48 hours.

Coinciding with the announcement of the attack, an “extreme emergency alert” sounded on all mobile phones in Israel, warning the population to look for protected spaces nearby and avoid unnecessary travel, the same alert that sounded when the Israeli Government attacked Iran in June 2025, after which the so-called 12-day war began.
In cities like Jerusalem, where planes overflight have been heard during the morning, anti-aircraft alarms have gone off.
The attack occurs in a situation of high regional tension after weeks of threats from the United States of military action in the Persian country.
