Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper focused on the Ramadan drama in Egypt, which begins in a few weeks, suggesting that the series “Companions of the Earth” will be the most prominent among the 40 series that will be shown during the month of Ramadan.

The Israeli newspaper claimed that the name of the Egyptian television series that will soon be shown on screens was changed three times until it was settled on “Companions of the Land” in reference to the land of Gaza.

The strongest during the Ramadan drama season

The newspaper explained that estimates indicate that Companions of the Earth will be the most prominent series among about 40 series that will be shown within the Ramadan drama season, which begins in two weeks. Expected to be watched by tens of millions of viewers across the Arab world, the events of the series revolve around a team of doctors and nurses leaving Cairo for Gaza, including Laila, a young doctor (played by star Mona Shalaby). As the team makes its way through the rubble of buildings, Egyptian doctor Laila meets a young Palestinian man (played by star Iyad Nassar) searching for his nephew, who disappeared under the rubble of a high-rise building. Laila arrives at a hospital in Gaza and meets him again. From there, a whirlwind romance develops.

The newspaper pointed out that the series will be available to watch on the Egyptian On channel, and the series includes an elite group of actors, including Adam Bakri, the son of Muhammad Bakri, the director of the anti-Israel film “Jenin, Jenin,” who died last December. In promotional advertisements for the series, Bakri is described as “the son of Jaffa who achieved remarkable success in the world of cinema and television.”
