Placing the current Middle Eastern conflict on the interests or characters of the leaders is too simplistic. It does not account for a US strategic path that aims to stabilize the area through the Israel-Sunni world axis, on a course of mutual rapprochement starting from the very early 1990s. The fruits of this diplomatic work have been seen first-hand: peace with Jordan, Madrid and Oslo. The objective is a clear operation of imperial disengagement from the Middle East, so to speak
