Thirty -seven and a half billions of euros: it is the cost of the war that Israel started in Gaza after October 7, 2023. For each of the 633 days of conflict, over 58 million euros were spent. To make it known is an analysis published by the Ministry of Finance and reported by N12. The detailed figures in the state budget for 2024 reveal that since the beginning of 2025 the country has allocated 7 billion of Shakel (1.8 billion hero) for the civil expenditure of the war only, even before the campaign against Iran. This sum adds to the 141.6 billion of Shakel (35.7 billion euros) of gross war expenses from 7 October 2023 until the end of 2024 “On the date of publication of the relationship, it is not possible to reliably evaluate and quantify the financial impact of the continuation of the ‘iron sword’ war and the Am Kalvi operation,” explained the state accounting. Defense expenses went from 75 billion Shakel (19 billion euros) in 2022 to 168 billion in 2024 (42.5 billion euros) with an increase of 2.24 times. In 2023, with the outbreak of the war in October, the expenses for the defense amounted to about 98 billion (25 billion euros). The most marked increase last year was recorded in the costs for the military reserve: 32 billion of Shakel, over 8 billion euros. For contracts and operations, which includes military ammunition and equipment, 97 billion were spent (24.5 billion euros), about 58% of all defense costs. According to the Ministry of Finance, a significant part of Israeli procurement from the United States was financed by the state budget, and not only by American aid, it still reports N12. As for the percentage of the gross domestic product, defense expenditure increased from 4.3% in 2022 to 8.4% in 2024.
