IPhone Air Orders Cut: Nikkei Report

The decision would come amid disappointing sales of the new model, which is notable for being very thin but costs more than the base model and involves more technical compromises.

There have been signs of this for a long time both in the official Apple store and in third-party stores, where the iPhone Air is available, while the other three models have delivery dates several months away.

Nikkei’s sources are not the first to talk about low demand for the iPhone Air. And analysts at Morgan Stanley have backed the same idea previously.

All analysts, however, claim that the other three models of the series are doing very well and will compensate brilliantly for the weakness of the iPhone Air, possibly leading to an increase in sales compared to last year.

The base model would be in high demand, after Apple introduced a ProMotion screen on it, and the two Pro variants would sell better than last year’s models.

The iPhone Air was introduced to replace the iPhone Plus, a model that Apple decided to abandon precisely because it did not enjoy the same success as the rest of the models in the series.
