Since September, Dam Retention Strengthened With Additional Imports…

In response to oral questions relating to “the acceleration of projects planned for the supply of drinking water”, the minister indicated that the recent rainfall recorded in several regions of the Kingdom made it possible to reduce the water deficit from 70% to 57 % compared to normal years and 37% compared to last year, noting however that the filling rate of dams is 23.2% compared to the 31.7% recorded last year.

He noted, in this sense, that the rate of water imports reached 3.7 billion cubic meters, compared to 5 billion cubic meters recorded last year, recalling in this regard the working session chaired last week by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, at the end of which “a new road map and an urgent program have been put in place to address these issues”.

In this register, Mr. Baraka noted the start of the operation of numerous new dams in the regions of Tiddas, Toudgha, Fask, Agdez and Zagora, noting the commissioning during the year of the Ghriss, Amdaz dams , Koudyat El Berna in Sidi Kacem, and the acceleration of the construction of 13 other dams currently under construction.

Energy Stocks Surge As Oil Prices Climb Amid…

Energy Stocks on the Rise as Oil Prices Inch Higher

The global energy sector got a much-needed shot in the arm as oil prices edged higher. As geopolitical tensions heat up, and tight supply concerns persist, investors are once again turning to energy-related stocks.

Crude Futures Edge Upward

In response to renewed geopolitical concerns, crude futures edged slightly upward. Saudi Aramco’s decision to up its prices for Asian customers further signaled a potential supply shortage – sending Brent, the international benchmark price (BZ=F), trading above $83 per barrel. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate (CL=F) rose above $78 per barrel.

A Dimmed Ceasefire Prospect Brings Cause for Concern

The potential ceasefire between Hamas and Israel led to more than 6% plunge in oil last week. However, by Monday morning those prospects were significantly diminished — casting doubts on where things may go next. “I believe we have seen some major liquidation in the crude space from hedge funds,” notes Dennis Kissler of BOK Financial – adding “renewed Geopolitical fears” could see more buying power sitting on the sidelines.

New Solutions Needed?

With demand for oil rising alongside an over-reliance on fossil fuels which are non-renewable sources of energy possessing harmful environmental consequences like global warming or climate change — many experts believe that new solutions need to be implemented to address present-day challenges efficiently without exacerbating existing problems.

RELATIONS WITH DONORS

On the right track. This is the little that can be said about the negotiations of the Malagasy authorities with the International Monetary Fund, IMF. Optimism shared yesterday evening at the meeting room of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Antaninarenina.

But what Agreement is this? Rindra Hasimbelo Rabarinirinarison, Minister of Economy and Finance, provides clear and unequivocal details. “The government has chosen to abandon the Extended Credit Facility, ECF, in its current configuration. Madagascar aspires to obtain the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, FRD, more conducive to our financial needs because it is aimed at countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change and facing environmental challenges. However, to hope to have access to the FRD, the requesting country must, among other conditions, be under a sub-program with the IMF for at least 18 months. While the current FEC ends in July.”

Friedrich Merz Suddenly Lacks Offense

He was particularly combative with regard to the AfD. If there were any doubts about the stability of the firewall against right-wing extremists, then he dispelled them with a decisive attack against the AfD. He launched an attack against the right-wing radicals and the CDU party conference rewarded this determination with stormy applause. A little more offense wouldn’t have hurt either. It remains to be seen how far he can carry this spirit of optimism and new determination through the 2024 election year. The results of the elections in Europe and the three Eastern countries will also determine the CDU’s willingness to follow its leader.
