Fostering Connections: A Party of Intergenerational Exchange

In a vibrant display of community collaboration, “The theater in the spotlight,” in partnership with the Local Mission of Plaine Vallée de Montmorency, Arpavie La Sablonnière, and Addiction France, is presenting two distinct events aimed at fostering intergenerational solidarity. These events, timed to coincide with the European hem of intergenerational solidarity, offer unique opportunities for connection and understanding between different age groups.

A Fresh Look at a Classic: “Cinderella” Reimagined

On Monday, April 28, 2025, attendees can experience Joël Pommerat’s Cinderella, a contemporary and sensitive reimagining of the classic fairy tale. This unique production features a cast comprised of residents from a senior living facility and young people from the local mission, bridging the generation gap through the shared experience of theater. The performance is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the village hall, located at 11 avenue Schaeffer, Deuil-la-Barre. Admission is free, but reservations are required.

Following the performance, attendees are invited to a friendly intergenerational aperitif, providing a relaxed setting for conversation and connection.

The power of intergenerational programs is increasingly recognized. Such as, a 2023 study by Generations United found that youth in intergenerational programs reported a 23% increase in their sense of social duty. This production of Cinderella exemplifies this positive trend.

Understanding Addiction: A Past Perspective

The following day, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the focus shifts to a critical societal issue: addiction. The France Addiction Institute will lead a conference titled The history of addictions, from the 60s to today. This intervention aims to shed historical,health-related,and societal light on the complexities of addiction. The conference will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Médiathèque Louise d’apinay, located at 38 rue Sister Azélie, Deuil-la-Barre. Like the theatrical performance, admission is free, but reservations are necessary.

According to the World Health Association, substance use disorders affect hundreds of millions of people globally.Understanding the historical context and societal factors contributing to addiction is crucial for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. This conference offers a valuable possibility to gain insights from experts in the field.
