Inter Milan failed to distance themselves from AC Milan’s pursuit. This is after the Nerazzurri beat Atalanta 1-1.

In the 29th week of the Serie A match at the Giuseppe Meazza, Saturday (14/3/2026) evening WIB, Inter took the lead in the first half through Pio Esposito. Inter then conceded in the 82nd minute because of Nikola Krstovic‘s goal.

Only adding one point, Inter has now collected 68 points, eight points ahead of Milan in second place in the Italian League standings. The difference could be reduced again if the Rossoneri win over Lazio.

The course of the Inter Milan vs Atalanta match

Inter almost conceded in the 12th minute if Gianluca Scamacca’s shot was not blocked by Yann Sommer from close range. Sommer quickly caught the rebound.

Inter were indeed under pressure from Atalanta in the first 15 minutes of the match. However, they took the lead in the 26th minute through Pio Esposito.

Esposito received Nicolo Barella’s short pass in the penalty box and immediately kicked into Marco Carnesecchi’s goal. Atalanta protested the goal because of a foul committed by Denzel Dumfries on Sead Kolasinac.

This goal made Inter more comfortable in controlling the match, but they still had difficulty creating other clean opportunities in the Atalanta penalty box.

The score was 1-0 for Inter’s lead until halftime.

Entering the second half, Inter increased the intensity of their attacks in search of additional goals. In the 48th minute, Dumfries had a chance to score a goal when his header deviated from the target.

Inter had a chance to increase their lead in the 61st minute when Thuram got the ball from Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s area. Just dealing with Carnesecchi, Thuram’s shot hit the Atalanta goalkeeper.

Inter could have controlled more of the ball but they wasted many opportunities to attack Atalanta’s goal. Ange Yoan-Bonny, who was introduced in the 65th minute, didn’t help much.

Atalanta was finally able to break through Inter’s goal in the 81st minute. Starting from Dumfries who fell while starting Kamaldeen Sulamana, the ball was snatched by an Atalanta player before being shot into the goal.

Sommer brushed it off but the ball was quickly struck by Nikola Krstovic. The goal was strongly protested because Dumfries was fouled before it was finally awarded.

Two minutes later, Cristian Chivu received a red card for protesting loudly to the referee. Inter, who tried to add goals from the remaining matches, failed and had to be satisfied with a score of 1-1.
