The deceased was identified as Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old female U.S. citizen. City officials said the woman was there as a legal observer of ICE activities – a role that monitors interactions between law enforcement and civilians – but the Trump administration called her a “terrorist.”
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Christy Norm claimed that Good tried to attack ICE agents and surrounding citizens with his vehicle, leading the agents to shoot in defense, while Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey characterized the incident as a reckless use of power by authorities that resulted in the death of innocent citizens.
After the incident, protests condemning it are spreading across the United States.
