Indre Østfold Strikes: Union Action & Risk – Smaalenenes Avis

by Archynetys News Desk

The head of the Trade Union and Lo municipality, Mette Nord reports in a press release.

– It was out of the question for us to accept that those with the least got the least. We demanded a fair wage settlement with more clearly low -wage profile such as the front, we did not get that and therefore we are now in mediation, says Nord.

The union warns that 8275 members in 148 municipalities will be taken out in the first strike withdrawal. In Indre Østfold, as many as 110 members can risk being taken on strike.

– We really know nothing until the 28th. Because then the mediation is finished, says Cecilie Reinfjell, head of the Trade Union Inner Østfold.

It is currently confidential which local services will be affected by a potential strike.

The parties now have a deadline at midnight until May 28 to reach agreement.

If you fail, there will be a strike for the Lo municipality’s 190,000 members. In Indre Østfold municipality, 110 employees risk being taken on strike.

– We still hope to come up with a result during the mediation that increases the purchasing power of the members and ensures the lowest paid. But if we do not reach the finish, we are prepared to use the most powerful tool we have. Then there will be a strike, says Nord.

In the press release, Nord further points out that there have been several years with a great price increase and high interest rates.

– This affects workers with lower income to a greater extent than others, because they have to use a larger proportion of wages to cover increased costs for food, housing and electricity.

This is LO Municipality:

The KS settlement is Norway’s largest tariff settlement, and LO municipality is the largest negotiating association in the KS area. LO Municipality represents around 190,000 employees in the municipal sector and consists of these unions: Trade Union, FO, EL and IT Association, Creo, the National Schools ‘Association and the Norwegian Sea Officers’ Association.
