Supported by a historical investment exceeding $19 million from the Dominican State and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Indotel’s project is connecting healthcare facilities in underserved rural areas. Hospitals in Las Salinas and Polo, Barahona, along with 17 UNAPs scattered across communities like Batey 8, Oviedo, and Pedro Santana, are now equipped with reliable internet connectivity. This enables the seamless use of electronic health records,facilitates telemedicine consultations,and establishes direct dialogue channels with regional hospitals.These advancements are particularly crucial in areas where access to specialized medical care is limited.

The “Fiber Optical Internet connectivity Project South Region,” inaugurated by President Luis Abinader and Indotel President Guido Gómez Mazara, aims to connect a total of 343 public institutions across nine provinces. This includes 10 hospitals and 55 advanced-level centers.
