Jakarta –
Vietnam’s economy throughout 2025 recorded significant growth despite being hit by United States (US) import tariffs implemented by President Donald Trump. It was recorded that Vietnam’s economy grew 8%.
Quoting CNA, Monday (5/1/2025), even though Vietnam has been subject to US tariffs of 20% on a number of products since August 2025, Vietnam’s export performance has continued to accelerate.
Based on Vietnamese government data reports, Vietnam’s total exports in 2025 will increase by 17% to around US$ 475 billion.

Of that amount, shipments to the United States amounted to US$ 153 billion, far exceeding the 2024 record figure of US$ 119.5 billion.
The surge in exports pushed Vietnam’s trade surplus with the US to close to US$ 134 billion in 2025, much higher than the previous record in 2024.
This figure even exceeds data from the US statistics agency which recorded Vietnam’s surplus reaching US$ 129.5 billion until September 2025.
This happens because Vietnam is the main link in the global supply chain for electronics, textiles, shoes and other goods.
