Advance…

The Independiente team will return to training this Saturday and Gustavo Quinteros received the news in the last few hours that both Federico Mancuello and Rodrigo Fernández Cedrés will continue at the Avellaneda institution.

Mancuello had ended his contract on December 31 and his future was a question mark, especially since he had recently lost ground in the team: In the Clausura tournament he barely added 46 minutes in five games.

The midfielder spoke with Quinteros, understood that he will have to fight from behind and decided to sign a new link until June 2027.

Mancuello will turn 37 in March, so it is very likely that he will end his career at Independiente, the club where he was born as a footballer, if he fulfills the entire contract.

The situation of Fernández Cedrés is different from that of Mancuello because although he had also been left with the pass in his possession at the end of the year, the Uruguayan ended up being a starter and everything indicates that he will be an important piece in the formation of the team for 2026.

The last talk between the player’s representation and the Independiente leadership took place this Friday and led to an agreement for another two seasons.

Fernández Cedrés will have a salary increase and, in addition, Rojo I would buy part of the pass of the 29-year-old midfielder, who also played for Newell’s in Argentine soccer.
