This year Binéfar joins the celebration of International Disability Day, which takes place on December 3, with a inclusive soccer triangle which will face the LaLiga Genuine teams – in which teams made up of players with intellectual disabilities – of the Real Zaragoza and Atlético Lleida along with the local Honor Division cadet.
This friendly triangle was created to make visible the group of people with intellectual disabilities, an initiative that is being held in the municipality for the first time and that will continue over time, as the Councilor for Sports, Sergio Serra, highlighted this Thursday in the presentation of the tournament. He was accompanied by Nelson Ballarín, coordinator of the Binéfar Base Football Club, the entity promoting the initiative, and the marketing manager of Fribín, Iván Reales. Fribín is one of the companies that collaborate in this triangular project along with Ath Riegos, Paobal Constructora, Pinturas Lepanto, Grupo Marín Calmesa, Jusegal and Agropienso.
LaLiga Genuine is an 8-a-side football competition for people from the intellectual disability group in Spain. It is organized through the La Liga Foundation and represents professional football’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Councilor Sergio Serra has stated that the City Council has joined this activity without hesitation to “bet on the values” it transmits. “of inclusion and cooperation between players, families, clubs and companies”, and has congratulated the Binéfar Base Football Club for this happy initiative.
In this regard, the coordinator of the Binéfar Base Football Club, which has a sports agreement with Real Zaragoza, decided to count on the Blanillo team and the team from the city of Segre for the triangular due to the good relationship they have with both clubs. Ballarín has stressed that the objective of the triangular is “make visible those people who are very important to our society. We think it can be a very nice meeting. Our goal as a club is to train people to be better footballers.”
In the sporting aspect, the Los Olmos field Three matches will be played: Real Zaragoza and Atlétic Lleida, in the other two four players from Binéfar and four players from Zaragoza will play against Atlétic Lleida; and four from Binefar and four from Ilerdense against Real Zaragoza.
This initiative has been supported from the business world by “the support that sport requires and the values of roots and integration What an initiative like this entails. We can all contribute a lot and now we must encourage the public to come and enjoy the event,” stated the marketing manager of Fribín.
