An Israeli radio station said on Monday that Israeli forces began evacuating Palestinian civilians from the Rafah area before a possible attack on the city in the southern Gaza Strip. The evacuation process may include about 100,000 Palestinians.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation “Kan” said that the Israeli army began evacuating neighborhoods in Rafah and a number of eastern neighborhoods close to the Israeli border.
An Israeli army statement said, “The army calls on residents of eastern Rafah to head toward an expanded humanitarian area,” noting that there is an increase in humanitarian aid entering Gaza.
The statement added that the Israeli army “expanded the humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi to accommodate the increasing levels of aid flowing into Gaza. This expanded humanitarian area includes field hospitals, tents, and increasing amounts of food, water, medicines, and additional supplies.”
“Subject to the government’s approval, the continuous assessment of the situation will guide the gradual movement of civilians in the designated areas to the humanitarian zone,” he continued, adding that invitations to temporarily move to the humanitarian zone will be sent through posters, SMS, phone calls and media broadcasts in Arabic.

The forest reserve in the municipality of Golungo Alto, in the province of Cuanza Norte, is being devastated by wood miners. Every day, at dawn, several trucks hit the road carrying several tons of illegally harvested wood in the forest reserve.
The complaint comes from the district attorney for the municipality of Golungo Alto, Manuel dos Passos, who is concerned about the silence of the provincial authorities. He said that “wooden trucks move at dawn”.
