Iman Jumaa: WADA Expert Committee Appointment

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced the election of Iman Gomaa, Executive Director of the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization (EGY-NADO), as a member of the Expert Committee of the International Agency, representing the continent of Africa, following the elections held during the past few days, which resulted in the selection of a number of experts from various countries of the world to membership in the Committee, which is considered one of the most prominent technical committees of the International Agency.

Witold Banka, President of the World Anti-Doping Agency, congratulated the elected members, saying: “On behalf of the Agency, I would like to congratulate the ten members elected to the Expert Advisory Committee of National Organizations. This group provides valuable insights into anti-doping issues and provides an integrated regional and global perspective, and I am confident that the members will use their regional expertise and commitment to clean sport to make impactful contributions.”

The Advisory Group for National Organizations consists of ten members elected from the five regions (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania) for a period of three years. It is concerned with providing advice and recommendations to the international agency in order to enhance cooperation and develop the performance of national organizations around the world.

The Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization expresses its pride in this prestigious international representation, which reflects the international community’s confidence in the competence and experience of Egyptian cadres, and their effective role in supporting global efforts to combat doping and promote the values ​​of integrity and clean sports.

For her part, Iman expressed her happiness at being elected as a member of the International Agency’s Advisory Committee of Experts, stressing that this is evidence that Egypt, represented by the National Anti-Doping Organization, is on the right path in implementing the international code and fully adhering to the International Agency’s rules in order to practice clean sports free of doping.

She stressed that the next stage will witness an important role in working to assist all national organizations on the African continent in continuous coordination with the World Anti-Doping Agency.

It is worth noting that the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization is the body responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring and advocating for improvements in the field of doping control in Egypt, and cooperating with relevant national and international organizations and agencies and other anti-doping organizations, as well as planning, implementing and monitoring information on anti-doping and education, education and prevention programmes.
