IMac Pro M5 Max: Apple Testing New Model?

Apple is said to be working on a new desktop computer at the more expensive end of the range. It is about an iMac Pro-like model which, according to leaked development files, uses an internal identification linked to the M5 Max circuit.

The data comes from so-called kernel debug kit files, a tool Apple engineers use to test hardware that is not yet official. In the material there is an iMac with the designation J833c and the platform H17C, linked to the code name “Sotra C”, which in turn is associated with the market name M5 Max, writes Macrumors.

Apple marks: This iPhone is no longer supported

The first iPhone SE is now classified as obsolete, which means that Apple is ending all service and support for the popular model. Apple has now added it

Also iPad mini

The files also mention other devices used only for internal testing, such as iPad mini models running tvOS and Macbooks with older A-series chips.

There is therefore a possibility that even this iMac is only a test tool.

Meanwhile, the introduction of the M5 family is imminent, and rumors of a return for a more professionally oriented iMac have been circulating for years.

The material also hints at a wider update to the Mac range. Among other things, Macbook Pro models in 14 and 16 inches with M5 Pro, M5 Max, M6 Pro and M6 Max are listed there, as well as Macbook Air in 13 and 15 inches with M5.

Mac mini and Mac Studio are also represented with upcoming M5 variants, as well as a Macbook with A18 Pro, which is expected to be a more price-pressured model.

Apple is not commenting on the data and the timetable for any launches remains unclear.
