De Jongh was married to Römer for four years when she announced that she would leave him. The actor was sentenced in August 2023 to a prison sentence of three months, two of which are conditional, for online seals with the girls.
De Jongh was, before Römer’s abuse came out, “very happy.” “Really very happy. The children were happy. We were happy. Then my world collapsed and I just didn’t see that blow. Everything was gone then, everything,” she says.
“Then I had a hard time. I was very sad, very lonely. Just hurt, my body really hurt. And then you think: this is no longer going well, that feeling will never go away.”
De Jongh is now in love again, although that is ‘still very early’. “I like that I feel something again, that I can feel something. I was really at the point that I thought: I don’t have to do it anymore.”
