DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) – The Delta County Sheriff’s Office announced an ice rescue near Round Island around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
In a Facebook post, the department says two people were on snowmobiles on Big Bay de Noc. Both snowmobiles went through the ice, but only one person fell in. That person was able to get out on his own but was stranded on the ice.
The other was able to get to the nearby island and wait for rescue.
First responders rescued the people using the Sheriff’s Office airboat and Masonville Township’s airboat.
Both were treated and release on scene by medical personnel.
Deputies were assisted by Ensign Township, Masonville Township, Delta County Search and Rescue, Rampart EMS and the Michigan DNR.
