Ian Watkins (48), the former singer of rock band Lostprophets, has been stabbed to death in prison. British media report this. Watkins served a 35-year prison sentence there for child abuse, including attempted rape of a baby.
He was attacked this morning when the prisoners were being released from their cells. Emergency services immediately came to the prison in Wakefield, a town north of Manchester.
In 2023, he was also attacked with a knife in prison. He was then taken to hospital with injuries.
Confession
Watkins admitted to a total of 13 counts of abuse. 90 photos of child abuse, and about 20 of sex with animals, were found on his computer. The judge spoke in 2013 of “a new low in the field of depravity”.
