Hyrox combines running and strength training into a grueling endurance event. It involves running one kilometer eight times,interspersed with eight challenging workouts,from sled pulls to burpee broad jumps and farmer’s walks.
The Chicago World Championships, a four-day spectacle on Lake Michigan, attracted spectators and participants from around the world. Over the past year, 850,000 people participated in Hyrox competitions in over 40 countries, with the top one percent gathering in Chicago.
Behind Hyrox are Moritz Fürste,a two-time Olympic hockey champion (2008,2012),and Hamburg sports manager Christian Toetzke. Since the first event in Hamburg in 2017, Hyrox has become a global phenomenon, generating 130 million euros in revenue in 2025.
Fürste told BILD am SONNTAG, “We always believed it would be big. But we are far,far beyond our wildest dreams. We are surprised at how quickly it has happened.”

Hyrox aims to become an Olympic sport. Fürste stated, “We aim to bring Hyrox to the Olympics. The decision for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane will be made in February next year.
