Ervin Nagy responded by explaining his current absence from Hungarian films and productions.He stated that he believes the quality of creators currently receiving opportunities from the film institute is questionable due to political reasons.

He added that sence he and his wife, Alexandra Borbély, appeared in the Slovak film Stastny Novy Rok (“Happy New year”), he has received regular invitations to other productions.

Ervin Nagy and the Tisza

Sándor Friderikusz also inquired about Ervin Nagy’s relationship with Péter Magyar. Nagy explained that the president of the Tisza party had initially approached him. He believes their shared sense of justice and vision facilitated their collaboration on the political stage.

Nagy considers his social role a civic duty, prioritizing it over his career in the current climate.

Alexandra Borbély mentioned her initial concerns regarding her husband’s public stance but acknowledged the necessity for bravery. She stated that she felt compelled to support her husband’s role.

The couple also expressed concerns about potential surveillance. Ervin Nagy suggested that, in light of the Pegasus scandal, it’s plausible that opposition figures are being monitored.

He understands that not everyone is willing to express themselves strongly due to potential backlash. Alexandra Borbély expressed frustration that people in Slovakia seem more willing to stand up for their interests without fear of consequences.
