The candidate of the National Rally for the 2026 municipal elections in Antibes will be Hugo Muriel, a 25-year-old student, BFM Nice Côte d’Azur learned this Friday, November 28.

The National Rally has chosen its candidate for the municipal elections in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes). This is Hugo Muriel, 25, a Master 2 student in wealth management at the Côte d’Azur University, learned from BFM Nice Côte d’Azur this Friday, November 28.

Originally from Nice, he currently lives in Antibes. He is on a work-study program and works in a bank in Nice.

The second most populous city in the Alpes-Maritimes

“Hyper invested for years in the RNJ” (Youth of the National Rally), he was notably assistant to the president and campaigned for the territory of Antibes. He will therefore embody the RN’s candidacy to try to become mayor of the second most populous city in the department.

Without a UDR candidate led by Éric Ciotti facing him, he would have to face one of the most important political figures on the Côte d’Azur, LR Jean Leonetti, even if the latter has not yet formalized his candidacy for re-election.

“My decision is gradually maturing, but I am in action today for the Antibes and the Juanais,” he told BFM Nice Côte d’Azur this Friday morning.

“We give young people a chance”

If Hugo Muriel is young and little known in the department, an executive from the RN federation of Alpes-Maritimes declares that this candidacy is “the realization of his commitment”. “It’s a whole generation of candidates that we want to promote,” he insists.

“We give the chance to young people, to deserving people. It allows them to make their first feats of arms and earn stripes,” he specifies before adding: “Bryan Masson ran for municipal office in 2020 [à Saint-Laurent-du-Var] and he had made 14%. It allowed him to get into politics, look now he’s an MP.”

“We trust our youth,” concludes this local RN executive.
