The Houston Dash are preparing to host the San Diego wave at Shell energy Stadium for Pride night on Friday, June 13. This game is the last home match before the league takes a break, and it’s the first of two encounters scheduled between the Dash and the Wave this season.

The Dash are aiming to bounce back from a recent 1-0 defeat on the road against the Orlando Pride. In that match, Houston managed to keep the reigning NWSL champions from scoring for almost the entire regulation time, but conceded a goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time.Despite the loss, the team showcased a strong defensive effort, recording a total of 37 clearances.defenders Katie Lind and Paige Neilsen stood out with eight clearances each, while goalkeeper Abby Smith made seven saves.

Defender Natalie Jacobs made contributions on both offense and defense, recording six clearances and entering the final third 11 times. Midfielders Yazmeen Ryan and Maggie Graham each won 11 duels, demonstrating their competitiveness in the midfield.

The Pride Night party will feature various activities and giveaways at the stadium. Fans can expect Pride-themed merchandise, including the Dash pride Shirt, along with interactive experiences like the Dash Bash Salon and friendship bracelet-making. A Pride playlist and a themed photo backdrop will also be available to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community.

The San Diego wave enters Friday’s match holding a 6-3-2 (W-L-D) record, placing them third in the NWSL standings. They are coming off a 2-1 loss to Seattle Reign FC. Forward Adriana Leon leads the Wave,having recently scored twice in a 5-2 victory over North Carolina Courage. She was also named NWSL Player of the Week in Week 10 of the 2025 season.

the Wave have a 4-1-1 all-time record against Houston since their entry into the league in 2022. The Dash secured their first-ever victory against San Diego in their most recent game, winning 2-0 last fall. In that match, Houston’s midfielder Bárbara Olivieri converted a penalty kick in the 30th minute after Naomi Grima received a yellow card for a foul inside the box. The Dash then increased their lead in the 72nd minute when Olivieri assisted forward Ramona Bachmann for the final goal. Houston will travel to San Diego for their second match of the season on Saturday, Sep. 7.

Before the league break, the Dash will travel to face North Carolina Courage on Saturday, June 21. Houston will resume NWSL play on Saturday, Aug. 2, with a road game against Bay FC.
