On Monday morning, the fire service reported a fire in a building at Nesttun.
– There will be a fire in a four-person home. We are on the way forward, said duty manager at the 110 central, Jostein Steinsland-Hauge.
At 0845, fire crews from Fana station arrived. The police were also immediately on the scene.
Smoke divers moved in and extinguished the fire.
The fire service reported just before 0900 that the situation was under control.
– There must have been a bit of fire in the living room, smoke divers are now cooling this further and starting to ventilate the smoke, informs Steinsland-Hauge.
The fire brigade arrived at the four-person home after a few minutes.

Five people were evacuated from the building.
– Ambulance personnel are on the scene, but so far no serious injuries have been reported, says police operations manager Dan Erik Johannessen to BA.
– Resident in the apartment in question has inhaled some smoke. Take it to the emergency room for a check-up.
It must have been the resident himself who reported the fire at approximately 0840.
Johannessen states that only three of the four housing units are inhabited.

Emptying of ashes
The police’s incident leader at the scene, Christian Meyer, tells BA that the cause of the fire is linked to the emptying of ashes from a fireplace.
– It has left some embers in a bag and these have been given a bit of new life and ignited a bit in the floor, says Meyer.
– Those who lived there were quick to try to stop it. When we arrived everything was extinguished. They have done a good job of preventing the spread.
As Meyer perceives it, a small area on the floor by the fireplace must be damaged.
– The fire brigade cut a hole in the floor.
A cat is said to have disappeared from the address.
– It must have been scared. We hope that it will appear again.
Have to find another place to sleep
At 0940, operations manager Johannessen reports that the police are closing in on the scene and opening a case.
– The fire brigade will stay a little longer in connection with ventilation. The evacuees have been allowed to return to their apartments. The current apartment needs some cleaning in connection with the incident. Residents here arrange alternative accommodation themselves.
