Understanding Robbery and its Impact

Robbery, as defined by legal statutes, involves the taking of property from a person or their immediate presence through the use of force or threat of force. This differs from theft, which does not involve direct confrontation or threat. The psychological impact on victims of robbery can be significant, leading to anxiety, fear, and post-traumatic stress [1]. Law enforcement agencies prioritize robbery cases due to the potential for violence and the disruption it causes to community safety [2].
