Kimmel, known for his frequent criticism of President Trump, had suggested that allies of Kirk were exploiting his death for political gain during his Monday monologue.

Free Speech Debate Erupts

Unions representing writers and actors have condemned the suspension as a violation of constitutionally protected free-speech rights. They argue that ABC should have resisted pressure from the US government.

The suspension of Kimmel’s show is the latest in a series of actions against media figures, academic workers, teachers, and corporate employees who have made remarks about Kirk’s assassination in Utah.
