In the interview, Hofseth said that Ap has moved far to the left and that it has happened as a consequence of the terrorist attack on Utøya 22 July 2011.
– They have been attacked, attacked for their idealism – it was the left side to be affected. And then I think they turn even more strongly the other way, he said.
– What happened to many of those in the leadership of the Labor Party is that they have become extremists because of what they have experienced.

– Yes, they have become, they are so far to the left. It is Marxism, and it has gone too far, Roger Hofseth told DN.

– Conspirational thoughts
Several AP politicians responded to Hofseth’s comments.
Among other parliamentary representative Per Vidar Kjølmoen, county secretary Karoline Slinning and former county mayor Line Hoem-who himself survived the Utøya attack.
– These are conspiratorial thoughts and attitudes that we know are out there. It is incredibly scary that Hofseth nourishes this in his interview. He shouldn’t, Hoem told Sunnmørsposten.

Hofseth: – Sired me
On follow -up questions from Sunnmørsposten, Hofseth writes in an SMS that he should not have taken up July 22.
– It is the worst thing that has happened in Norway since the war. And I don’t mean the Labor Party is extremists, even though I disagree with politics. In the heat of the fight you say stupid things. As a rule, it goes beyond myself, but this time it went beyond someone else. I’m sorry for that, Hofseth writes.
