HIV Prevention: São Paulo City Hall Actions

by Archynetys Health Desk

Initiative seeks to expand access to care, especially for the most vulnerable segments of the population

The City of São Paulo takes the PrEP na Rua project to four neighborhoods in the capital this Monday (1st). During the service, it will be possible to carry out rapid and free testing for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C, in addition to starting the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV. There will also be distribution of prevention supplies, such as condoms and lubricating gel.

The PrEP na Rua project seeks to expand access to HIV prevention, especially for the most vulnerable segments of the population. PrEP consists of the continuous use of antiretroviral medications — in the form of one tablet per day — so that, if there is exposure to the virus, the person is protected.
