Highest Grossing Film 2025: Not Avatar or Superman | [Film Name] Revealed

by drbyos

There is no doubt that 2025 has been full of great blockbusters, from reboots of mythical sagas such as ‘Jurassic World: The Revenant’ or ‘Superman’ to live-actions such as ‘Lilo & Stitch’ and ‘How to Train Your Dragon‘, through the action adaptations ‘F1: The Movie’ and ‘A Minecraft Movie’. However, there has been an animated sequel that has surpassed all of these successful films. No, it is not ‘Zootropolis 2‘, although this one follows very closely.

The highest-grossing film of the year has been ‘Ne Zha 2‘, a continuation of the film released in 2019 that against all odds has accumulated $2.2 billion, a figure that has led it to snatch the position of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ as the fifth most successful film in history.

‘Ne Zha 2’ leads the box office in 2025

After grossing $700 million in 2019, director Yu Yang has once again directed this mythological film that follows the demon child Ne Zha as he must find an elixir to save his ally, Prince Loong, Ao Bing. As the synopsis explains, the protagonist “discovers a conspiracy that will unleash a devastating war between good and evil, and he must challenge treacherous forces to protect what he values most.”

Released on January 29 in China, the film quickly became a phenomenon, earning $2,054 million. However, outside the country the film has not had the expected reception for a film that shares the throne with ‘Avatar’, ‘Titanic’ and ‘Endgame’, having earned a meager 31 million dollars.

  • ‘Ne Zha 2’ is not yet available on any Spanish streaming platform.
