- Jan 28 – Boys Track & Field team meeting on Wednesday, January 28 at 8:45 AM in the Multi-Purpose Room. All interested athletes should attend or contact jason.nolting@southeastpolk.org.
- Jan 29 – Girls Golf team meeting on Thursday after school at 3:15 PM. The meeting will be held at the Junior High in Mr. Schwemm’s room 224. Girls interested in playing should register as soon as possible. Contact troy.schwemm@southeastpolk.org with questions.
- Jan 31st – Pancake Breakfast | Best Buddies is hosting a community-wide pancake breakfast from 8:00–10:00 AM at the Pleasant Hill Elks Lodge (5420 NE 12th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50327). The cost is $5 per person and includes pancakes, sausage, and juice.

Graduates:
- Mar 3 – Dollars for Scholars Application Deadline.
- Mar 27 – Senior Graduate Reflections must be submitted.
- Caps & Gowns: Any students who are graduating this year should have purchased their cap, gown, and tassel by now to ensure it arrives on time. The basic package is available here.
- Fees: Please ensure all your student’s fees are paid. These may include textbook rentals, parking permits, activity passes, lunch accounts, and activity registrations. Seniors must have all fees paid in order to participate in graduation.
- Communicate with the counselors to Verify your name is on the graduation list spelled correctly

- Jan 26 – SEP College Planning Night will take place in the High School Auditorium from 6:00–7:00 PM. This event is a great opportunity for students and families to learn more about college planning. Click here for full details.
- Feb 25 – College Fair – Johnston High School is sponsoring a college fair on February 25, 2026, from 5:30-7:00 PM. All area high school students are invited to attend the Johnston High School College Fair as over 50 colleges will be in attendance. High school students should enter door #2 to register for the college fair.
Accumold in Ankeny is hosting an advanced manufacturing event on Thursday, February 12 from 5:30-7:00 PM for high school students and their families. A pizza dinner and a tour of the Accumold manufacturing facility provided. DMACC and Accumold will present information regarding the Accumold Scholars program for DMACC students enrolling in the Tool & Die or Robotics & Control Systems Engineering Technology programs at the DMACC Ankeny campus. Summer Internship Opportunity: MidAmerican Energy Company is now accepting applications for its paid summer internship program. ⇒ Standard Reference Grading
Standards Referenced Grading (SRG) is the grading system being used at SEP High School. All courses have identified priority standards within the Infinite Campus gradebook. Teachers will collect artifacts for each standard to determine each students’ level of proficiency. Learn more about the SRG grading system.
