Hernán Bermúdez, former Secretary of Security of Tabasco in the Adam Government Augusto LópezHe was arrested on September 12 in Paraguay, after remaining a fugitive from Mexican authorities for just over seven months.
The former official was arrested in a luxury residence, located in the Mariano Roque Alonso Citywithin the closed neighborhood Surubi’i.
During the night, elements of the Department of Extradition of the Specialized Unit of International Affairs, Extradition and External Legal Assistance of the Public Ministry, together with agents of the National Anti -Drug Secretariat (SENAD), participated in a joint operation in charge of the Fiscal agent Giovanni Grisetti.
How did the arrest of Hernán Bermúdez occur?
Filtered recordings on the capture of the alleged leader of the group ‘La Barredora‘ show agents surrounding the residence where he was. A group went to the main entrance and, with the help of an ram, knocked down the door to enter the home.
The use of force was not necessary and confrontation between the security forces and the former official was not reported.
The agents rose to the second plant of the residencewhere Hernán Bermúdez was. There they submitted it while they checked the rest of the property.
In the place they found bundles of money and jewels. There was also a luxury car parked inside the residence: a Changan Uni-T, compact SUV manufactured by the Chinese automaker Changan Automobile.
What follows Hernán Bermúdez?
After the arrest, the Paraguay Public Ministry reported this Saturday, September 13 that the Bermúdez Requena capture was for extradition purposes.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Paraguay received the request from the Mexican authorities by diplomatic means, in accordance with a Extradition treaty in force between the two countrieswhich allowed the Criminal Judge of Guarantees Specialized in Organized Crime of Asunción, Osmar Legal, to issue the arrest warrant.
According to Paraguay media, Hernán Bermúdez arrived in that country at the end of January this yearso that it happened more than seven months in illegal condition.
According to authorities of the South American country, Bermúdez Requena left Mexico towards Panama, where it stopped. Then he traveled to Brazil and from there entered by land illegally a Paraguay.
Besides, Hernán Bermúdez Requena’s wife entered Paraguay in Maywhen he settled with him in the exclusive neighborhood of Mariano Roque Alonso.
In a publication in her X account, President Claudia Sheinbaum thanked the Paraguay Government for supporting the alleged leader of ‘La Barredora’.
“I thank the president of Paraguay, Santiago Peña Palacios, his collaboration in the arrest of Hernán ‘N’, linked by organized crime. Our strategy of attention to causes and zero impunity decreases violence in our country,” the president shared.
