The police have been notified that there should have been a snow avalanche from Tverrfjellet in Hemnes municipality.
In a report on the police log, Nordland police district says that the rescue helicopter Sar Queen, volunteers and police are on their way to the scene.
– It is unclear if anyone is taken in the avalanche, it says in the police log.
Operations manager Veronica Helen Nylund at the Nordland police district tells Rana Blad that the avalanche in question must have gone from Tverrfjellet in Bleikvasslia. This is a mountain top that is 1274 meters high.
– There were people on a trip in the area who discovered that the landslide was going. It must have gone on the eastern side of Tverrfjellet down towards Store Bessdørdalen, says Nylund.
She says the police want to know more about the status when the rescue helicopter has arrived in the area.
At 14:55 Nordland police district posted the following message on the police log
The landslide area is kept by Sar Queen. There is no trace indicating that anyone is taken by the landslide. The rescue operation ends.
Thanks to Norwegian People’s Aid, the Red Cross, Norwegian rescue dogs and civilians in the area who were on their way to assist in the search.
