Hell’s Kitchen S24 E11 Recap: Dinner Disaster

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Tonight on Hell’s Kitchenteamwork gets tossed into the wok as the chefs face a high-pressure Chinese cuisine tag-team challenge — and not everyone’s ready to play nice. Later, the heat gets even hotter during a star-studded charity night dinner service benefiting Feeding America and Stand Up To Cancer. With each cook taking a turn running a course, the kitchen turns into a battlefield of egos, misfires, and shaky leadership. Read on to find out what happened on the aptly titled “Charity Dinner From Hell.”

Here are the contestants competing and the state each represents in Hell’s Kitchen: Battle of the States.

Blue Team State Red Team State
Anthony Iowa Alexandra Oregon
Antonio New Hampshire He stopped Delaware
Bradley Louisiana Dear Marie Rhode Island
Carlos Alaska Cat Maryland
Chase Montana Cydni North Carolina

The challenge

Gordon Ramsay explains that this week’s challenge is all about discovering how well the chefs can connect with their “trusty teammates.” Each squad must craft a cohesive menu built around Chinese cuisine, with just 10 minutes to brainstorm before heading to the stoves. The entrées up for grabs: dumplings, stir fry, noodles, and sweet and sour.

But, of course, Gordon adds a twist. Two chefs from each team kick things off by working on all four dishes — until Gordon shouts, “Switch!” At that moment, the second pair must jump in and take over immediately. All told, they have 45 minutes to pull everything together.

Helping Gordon judge tonight’s dishes is chef and restaurateur Buddha Lo. Below see the scores for both teams, along with the chef responsible for each dish.

Dumplings
Cydni (Red): 0
Jada (Blue): 1

Sweet and Sour
Lisa (Red): 1
Henry (Blue): 0

Stir Fry
Anaiya (Red): 1
Jayden (Blue): 1

Noodles
Ellie (Red): 1
Anthony (Blue): 0

By a score of 3–2, the Red Team pulls out the win and scores a private tour of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum — the world’s largest Native American museum — plus a full set of HexClad cookware to take home. The Blue Team, meanwhile, heads in the opposite direction of luxury: they’ll be building compost boxes, climbing into dumpsters, and sorting trash from the bins.

Dinner service

Tonight’s dinner service doubles as a charity benefit for Feeding America and Stand Up To Cancer. Diners will be treated to a five-course menu: pan-seared scallops prepared by Anaiya and Henry; lemon capellini pasta overseen by Lisa and Anthony; five-spiced duck breast led by Cydni and Jayden; and filet mignon with glazed vegetables helmed by Ellie and Jada. For dessert, the teams must come together to execute a passionfruit soufflé — a true test of collaboration under pressure.

Both kitchens got off to a strong start, with the first course hitting the dining room without delay. But the second course proved more chaotic: Anaiya kept shouting over Lisa in the Red kitchen, while Anthony struggled to assert himself on the Blue side. Although the Red Team regrouped and pushed their pasta out smoothly, the Blue Team fell behind — much to Gordon’s mounting frustration. The pressure only intensified for Anthony when Gordon discovered he was an entire plate short for a 10-person table, putting him squarely in the hot seat.

The third course — led by Cydni and Jayden — went relatively smoothly, though the Blue Team continued to trail behind. For the fourth course, Ellie and Jada vowed to deliver their filet mignons “in harmony,” but that harmony didn’t last long. The Red Team hit their agreed-upon 11-minute mark with perfectly cooked steaks, while the Blue Team stumbled once again — this time over undercooked carrots.

Elimination

After dinner service, Gordon named the Red Team the winners — and bluntly noted that Henry’s scallops were the only bright spot for the Blue Team. He instructed Henry to hash things out with his teammates and return with two nominees for elimination — ultimately putting Anthony and Jayden on the chopping block.

After both chefs pleaded their case, Gordon chose to eliminate Jayden — on his birthday, no less. Ouch. As Gordon put it, “Jayden was the first person in 24 seasons to drop a dish during a challenge. Then he dropped the ball during service, so I dropped him out of the competition.”
