Heim Chain Closure: Gjøvik Restaurant Impact – Economics & Business

by Archynetys Economy Desk

About four months ago, the restaurant premises where Heim has had his restaurant at St. Hanshaugen in Oslo were put on the open market. The Heim chain had had one of its restaurants there for nine years.

They have now had their last opening day, and the chain is thus one restaurant poorer.

In a Facebook update, they thank their customers, including those who have taken part in the chain’s joint quiz competitions with competitors from, among other places, Gjøvik.

– We would like to thank our neighborhood at St. Hanshaugen and all the regulars we have grown so fond of, for all the visits during this journey. The same applies to all other guests who have answered quiz questions, hunted for bingo wins and listened to live music and concerts in the outdoor dining area. And last, but not least: all the fine food and drink experiences we have been able to share with you. From the whole Heim gang – thank you very much for us, they write in a status update that they are now closed.

Heim now has restaurants in all three bay towns, in Fredrikstad and at Jessheim.

Multiple stakeholders

Heim Gastropub opened its doors in St. Hanshaugen in 2017, and has since established itself as a neighborhood venue. The premises where Heim has been located for several years was put up for sale and rent this autumn. Then there was great interest from several players.

When Avisa Oslo mentioned the advertisement, Heim stated that the future of the restaurant was uncertain.

In February, the farm owner confirmed to Avisa Oslo that they had found a new tenant to take over the Heim restaurant.

– This is because we unfortunately did not reach an agreement with the landlord on reasonable rental conditions, wrote general manager of Heim Gruppen Emma Käll in an e-mail.

None in Oslo

From before, Heim has restaurants in other cities. Now that they are closing St. Hanshaugen, it is uncertain whether the restaurant will open again in Oslo, at least for the time being.

– We are always looking for good locations, so if the right place turns up, we may open again in Oslo, Käll wrote to Avisa Oslo in February.

Igor Pancevski is general manager of Colletts gate 33 AS, which owns the apartment building where Heim used to live. He says that the discussion about the rent came up in connection with the fact that Heim’s lease was soon to expire.

– They had a ten-year-old contract with a ten-year-old price, says Pancevski, who does not want to say anything about the rental prices that were negotiated.

When they advertised the premises at Finn, the company received 40 enquiries.

– There were grocery stores, an architect’s office, a furniture store and several types of restaurants. But I think we have chosen the best concept, he says.

It is the Colletts Gate Parkservering restaurant that will move in in April. They already have one more restaurant in Pilestredet, named Pilestredet Parkservering.
