Between September and November 2025, the total volume of heating oils sold in Belgium reached 844.3 million liters, a decline of 19.8% compared to the same period in 2024 (1,053.3 million liters).
This decrease is explained by two factors:
- a milder autumn: temperatures were slightly higher in 2025 (425 cumulative degree days) than in 2024 (451 cumulative degree days)
- the gradual reduction in the use of heating oil to heat premises: this movement concerns both individuals and businesses.
Where do these figures come from?
The Directorate General for Energy of the FPS Economy produces official statistics each month concerning the consumption of petroleum products in Belgium, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1099/2008.
