Hearings On The Law On Foreign Agents Disrupted…

by drbyos

In the Georgian parliament, before the start of the plenary session, where the bill on foreign agents was to be discussed, a fight broke out between representatives of the opposition and the ruling majority.

As Day.Az reports, Georgian Telegram channels report this.

“The discussion of the bill on foreign agents in the Georgian parliament has been disrupted – clashes are taking place throughout the hall between deputies from the ruling party and the opposition,” the text says.

It is noted that the incident began with accusations from the opposition against the authorities regarding the actions of special forces.

The day before, a protest rally took place in Tbilisi in front of the Georgian parliament, where deputies were considering the bill “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” in the second reading. The protest escalated into clashes with the police; riot police repeatedly used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. 6 police officers were injured, 63 people were administratively detained.

The Conspirator Bombic Has Appealed, When Will He…

the information was confirmed to us today by the Specialized Criminal Court (ŠTS), which received an official statement from the British side.

“We confirm that the court in Westminster (United Kingdom) on April 24, 2024 decided to extradite the accused for all the acts to Slovakia. The accused filed an appeal, which will be decided by a superior court, it is assumed that the proceedings on the appeal will last several weeks,” the ŠTS spokeswoman told me in her statement, referring to information from Eurojust.

It is interesting to mention that Bombic was released for all the deeds. The British court apparently had no serious objections to the arguments of the Slovak authorities, who successively issued three separate international arrest warrants for Bombica.

The Channel Has A Constant, Pro-Palestinian Editorial Line

That’s a very good question. This decision had been in the air, without being executed, for weeks. A law called the “Al-Jazeera law”, even if it did not name the channel, was passed by a very large majority by the Knesset on 1is april. Its aim is to stop the broadcasting in Israel of any foreign media that would be considered to undermine the security of the State. It was Al-Jazeera that was targeted. Its coverage of the war in the Gaza Strip, where it is the only international media to be present, and in the Palestinian territories has for years been the main element of conflict

But this is a first in the history of the Jewish state and very bad news for press freedom. Israel joins authoritarian regimes which limit press freedom, including Arab autocracies which have attacked this channel.

But we can’t help but wonder about the sense of timing. Why now ? It is also undoubtedly a question of putting pressure on Qatar, owner of the channel. Israel and Hamas appeared close to an agreement for a cessation of hostilities and the release of hostages a few days ago, but Netanyahu’s declarations announcing his intention to invade the town of Rafah,

According to a family member, she has now undergone surgery and is expected to have a “very long recovery”.

The band stated in a statement that it deeply regrets what happened that evening. “This incident has shaken us to our core, and we ask for patience as we determine how best to help Bird through this difficult time. Please keep Bird in your thoughts.

Floridas Restrictive Property Law Leaves Chinese Residents Feeling…

Exploring the Impact of Florida’s Law Restricting Land Purchases by Chinese Citizens

It was supposed to be a dream come true for Lisa Li, a hardworking and tax-paying resident who had spent years pursuing the American dream. But when she tried to purchase a one-bedroom condo in Miami’s financial district, her plans were abruptly derailed by a new Florida law that restricted land purchases by Chinese citizens near military installations, airports, and refineries.

The law, which went into effect in July, is part of a broader trend across more than three dozen states aiming to curb what they perceive as growing threats to national security posed by Chinese citizens and companies. Under this legislation, Ms. Li faced not only the collapse of her real estate deal but also potential prison time for attempting to buy property.

While civil rights groups have challenged the law on various grounds such as discrimination and violation of federal government powers on foreign affairs, its effects have already been felt deeply within Florida’s Chinese community. Some individuals reported facing discrimination during their attempts to purchase homes or living in fear that they may unknowingly violate the law.

Unintended Consequences: Economic Fallout and Chilling Effect

The impact of this legislation extends beyond personal hardships faced by members of the Chinese community.
