Harry Styles: March 14th Best Moments

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

After crashing Ryan Gosling‘s monologue last week, Harry Styles returned to Studio 8H to host Saturday Night Live on March 14, also serving as musical guest.

A three-time Grammy winner for “Watermelon Sugar” (Best Pop Solo Performance in 2021) and Harry’s House (Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year in 2023), Styles hosted SNL for the first time during Season 45 (2019). He appeared as musical guest with his band One Direction on Seasons 37 (2012), 39 (2013), and 40 (2014), and as solo musical guest on Season 42 (2017). Styles and One Direction also made a cameo appearance on Season 46 (2020).

Saturday Night Live will return on April 4 with guest host Jack Black and musical guest Jack White:

Styles is the 15th person to host SNL during this 51st season, following Bad Bunny (with musical guest Doja Cat) on Oct. 4; Amy Poehler (with musical guest Role Model) on Oct. 11; Sabrina Carpenter (who was also the musical guest) on Oct. 18; Miles Teller (with musical guest Brandi Carlile) on Nov. 1; Nikki Glaser (with musical guest Shadow) on Nov. 8; Glen Powell (with musical guest Olivia Dean) on Nov. 15; Melissa McCarthy on Dec. 6; Josh O’Connor (with musical guest Lily Allen) on Dec. 13; Ariana Grande (with musical guest Cher) on Dec. 20; Finn Wolfhard (with musical guest A$AP Rocky) is Jan. 17; Teyana Taylor (with musical guest Geese) is Jan. 24; Alexander Skarsgård (with musical guest Cardi B.) is Jan 31; Connor Storrie (with musical guest Mumford & Sons) on Feb. 28; and Ryan Gosling (with musical guest Gorillaz) on March 7. Saturday Night Live recently added 11 Emmy Awards to its shelf in September, bringing its overall tally to 112.

Here are the best moments from Harry Styles’ latest hosting gig.

COLD OPEN

While on the way to grandma’s house, a family of four had to make some tough sacrifices to fill up the gas tank. Poor mom and dad (Ashley Padilla and Mikey Day) have to leave one of their kids (Marcello Hernandez and Sarah Sherman) behind in order to afford $5 a gallon gas. But don’t worry, because as President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) assured us, this is a temporary pain. “We will win this war because Iran is old, and nobody likes them,” Trump said. “Iran is like ballet and opera, and we’re Timothée Chalamet.”

OPENING MONOLOGUE

Upon taking the stage at Studio 8H, Harry Styles addressed accusations that he’s been queer-bating with his wardrobe choices. “But did it ever occur to that maybe you don’t know anything about me, dad?” Styles fired back. He was there to promote his new album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionallyand as the title would suggest, he enjoys kissing all the time… which is why he planted one on Ben Marshall. Looks like he won’t be beating the queer-bating accusations anytime soon.

SEBASTIAN FARRIER

Prosecutor Harry Styles thinks he has an open-and-shut case until the public defender shows up: Sebastian Maniscalco (Hernández). Judge Kenan Thompson is charmed by Maniscalco’s antics, leading Styles to copy them in the hopes that he’ll win the case. But there’s no competing with the genuine article.

MAHASPITAL

Do you love The Pitt but hate its liberal politics and woke medicine? Fear not: from The Daily Wire, it’s MAHA Hospital, featuring Styles as Dr. Robby, Padilla as Dana, and a special appearance by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Johnson), who drops in with a dead bear he wants chopped up for jerky. No vaccines or Tylenol here: Every ailment in MAHA Hospital can be cured with Ivermectin.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCES

Considering Styles couldn’t introduce himself before his first musical performance, it was up to Ryan Gosling to do the honors. (Looks like there were no hard feelings about Styles getting in Gosling’s head last week.) Paul Simon, who hosted SNL‘s second episode over 50 years ago, showed up to introduce Styles’ second musical performance.

WEEKEND UPDATE

Since the Oscars are tomorrow, Colin Jost brought one none other than Tucker Carlson (Jeremy Culhane) to give his take on this years crop of nominees. Carlson isn’t a fan of this years Best Picture contenders, to say the least, preferring past winners like Gone with the Wind and the first 20 minutes of Forrest Gump… you know, the part where Forrest was bullied in pre-Civil Rights America. Jost also commented on the Best Actor race, which will either go to Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) who “embodied two separate roles exploring themes or race and ancestral trauma,” or “ping-pong guy” Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme).
