I am not friends with any of these journalists,” Prince Harry testified at the High Court in London last January, as part of the trial between seven personalities, including the youngest of Charles III, and Associated Newspapers (owner of the Daily Mail). While the Duke of Sussex accuses the media of having used spies and illegal wiretapping to delve into his private life, the AN group retorts that it was members of the prince’s entourage who spilled the beans, on different aspects of his private life. Harry missed an opportunity to remain silent since we discovered, this April 1, 2026 – and this is not a joke –, that the Duke of Sussex maintained at the time a rather complicit epistolary relationship with Charlotte Griffiths, a seasoned journalist from Daily Mail.
During the trial, it had already been established that the two protagonists had exchanged a few messages after a party at the house of a mutual friend, Arthur Landon, in June 2012, which had lasted until the end of the night, the day before Trooping the Color. Prince Harry had denied knowing Charlotte Griffiths more than that. “I only met her once, that weekend with Mr. Landon, and like I said, I had no idea who she was. I don’t know if she worked for the Daily Mail at that moment. When I found out, I cut ties with her.”
“It’s H”
Bad luck for the Duke of Sussex: his exchanges with Charlotte Griffith on Facebook have just been made public on March 31, the last day of his trial. And it doesn’t seem like their relationship was limited to three text messages. It was even the prince who initiated the contact by sending a message to the journalist on December 4, 2011. “It’s H, in case you confused the name and the photo!!!he wrote to her, after adding her as a “friend” in his Facebook contacts. “Hello Mr. Mischievous… Did you get home safely? Did you find your car? And above all, did you beat Arthur on the highway?!”, she answers him, twenty-four hours later about this evening at which they obviously had a lot of fun.

“What a crazy weekend! Couldn’t we all do stupid things in the countryside every weekend, for God’s sake? Bisous, CG String. Xxx”she concluded when returning home that evening, signing with her initials and a word meaning string in French, associated with a piece of lingerie… Specifying that he had one of the best weekends of his lifeHarry asks him what he did to earn his nickname “Mister Mischievous”, and confirms between the lines that he did race with his friend Arthur on the highway.
Harry nicknamed H-bomb
Explaining to her that he still suffers from withdrawal syndromes, he admits to having been obliged to “making polite conversation with strangers at dinner last night, asking them for money for charity! Really funny… not at all.” Harry asks him how his job is going, suggesting that he knows the nature of his job then. A few days later, Harry and Charlotte exchange again on the social network, he signs with “Mwah” evoking a kiss, and tells her that he is drunk for the third time in a row this week. She calls him “H-Bomb” and explains that she missed him at another party he didn’t attend. Then, Charlotte asks him if he is nearby, in Klosters, a ski resort in Switzerland where she is spending her vacation, and if he came to the polo match organized by Sentebale.

“I would have loved to be there, my darlingbut unfortunately, I’m stuck in Cornwall for military business 🙁 Otherwise, I would have been there playing and beating you soundly, obviously!!”, he replied to her on January 22, 2012, nicknamed her sucre. He continues in the same tone, “I would have loved to be there… especially now that you’re there! Do you work sometimes?!!… I hope you’re well, Griff… I miss our cuddles in front of the movies!!”.
These exchanges reveal a deeper relationship than Prince Harry has let on. They could well compromise the arguments of the Duke of Sussex who assures that his entourage had no link with the press. The judge must now devote himself to drafting his decision, which he could deliver after Easter. Prince Harry risks losing more than 40 million euros if he does not win this lawsuit.
