The fire -fighting work will continue until lunch, the fire brigade said. The burning hall has now been deleted, but a burning container camp is still presenting the firefighters with challenges. “We don’t know what’s inside the container,” said a fire brigade spokesman on request. The opening is currently being prepared using the company that belongs to the containers.
On Monday the fire brigade was on site with up to 320 forces, currently around 120 are still in use. During the day, fire investigators are expected to start their work – but only when the fire location is released by the fire brigade, a police spokesman said.
On Tuesday morning, the major fire no longer affected traffic in the Hanseatic city. As a police spokesman said, all important roads including the A1 have now been released again. Only the streets directly around the fire site are still closed.

Fire in Hamburg: Burning car in warehouse as the cause
The major fire triggered is said to have been a burning car in the warehouse of a freight forwarder. This is said to have brought several gas bottles into explosion, which set at least one more hall on fire next to the hall in which the car was standing. The roof of the warehouse had collapsed through the full fire of the building before midnight. There were also other small fires on the site.
Almost 300 emergency services were on site – the extinguishing work initially continued.

Several cars on the A1 made by debris parts
Participants are said to have flown hundreds of meters from the explosions and have hit several vehicles on the A1. Among other things, a woman was hit in her car. It was taken to the hospital by an ambulance – there is no danger to life.
The fire brigade is also said to have been hit and badly damaged. At first it was not possible to extinguish the fire because this would have been too dangerous for the firefighters. The building was cooled from the outside, it said. All available water cannons from Hamburg were requested for this. With the extinguishing boat Prague and hoses, water was pumped from the Elbe to the place of fire. The fire intensity had only decreased at around 7 p.m. The area can be entered, according to a spokesman.
