(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Dong-chan = Professional baseball’s Hanwha Eagles designated KIA Tigers’ right-handed pitcher Yang Soo-ho as a compensation player for pitcher Kim Beom-soo.

Yang Soo-ho, born in 2006 and a graduate of Gongju High School, was selected by KIA as the 35th overall pick in the 4th round of the 2025 rookie draft, and recorded a fastball speed of up to 153 km/h last year.

Hanwha general manager Son Hyuk explained the background to the compensation player designation, saying, “Yang Soo-ho is a fireballer who we have been watching with interest since he was drafted two years ago. If he improves his physique and other complementary points, we expect him to grow into a pitcher along with Kim Seo-hyun and Jung Woo-joo in the future.”

Until this day, Hanwha was able to nominate a compensation player for Kim Beom-soo, who qualified as a free agent (FA) after the end of the 2025 season and transferred to KIA.

Kim Beom-soo appeared in 73 games last season, recording 2 wins, 1 loss, 2 saves, 6 holds, and an ERA of 2.25, and signed a three-year contract with KIA worth up to 2 billion won.

Yang Su-ho has no records of first-team appearances in the 2025 season, but appeared in 8 games for Futures, recording 1 loss, 1 save, and an ERA of 4.70.
