HanuMan Success Doesn’t Last: A Bittersweet Journey for Producer and Director
The 2024 Telugu film HanuMan flew high, becoming a sensation and raking in impressive profits. However, for its producer and director, the triumphant ride was short-lived. Niranjan Reddy, the producer, sank significant portions of the earnings into another project, Double iSmart, which flopped, leading to substantial financial losses.
Meanwhile, director Prashanth Varma faced a different kind of setback. Two high-profile projects teed up thanks to HanuMan‘s success – a rumored collaboration with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and the highly anticipated Nandamuri Mokshagna project – both came to an abrupt halt.
Fearing Disaster, Varma Steps Away
Sources suggest that Varma himself was apprehensive about moving forward with these ventures, fearing potential complications if they were ultimately abandoned mid-production. Ultimately, he chose to withdraw from both projects.
Now, the industry buzzes with curiosity: who will be the star of Varma’s next film? A joint venture with the immensely popular Rishab Shetty seems unlikely due to Shetty’s commitment to other projects. However, speculation points towards a collaboration with DVV Danayya’s son, Kalyan, with Varma taking on a mentorship role.
Although HanuMan delivered a successful box office performance, its initial promise hasn’t translated into sustained success for its key members. Only time will tell how Varma’s career unfolds after this bittersweet chapter.
