LINKÖPING. Gina Dirawi and Hampus Nessvold are kicking off Melodifestivalen 2026.

In just a few minutes they manage to make jokes about plastic surgery, Palestine and Dermot Clemenger.

– Mello must be a program where you can go a little too far sometimes, says Dirawi.

“Copacabanana boy”, or whatever it was called, is really among the worst I’ve heard in 20 years in the competition. Poor sate.

He places so that we will have something to fork over. But that was… come on. I have no words.

  • There have been six songs per heat since 2024, for those wondering.

  • Jaqueline, Junior and A-teens should move on

  • Verka Serduchka called and wanted his helmet back from Junior Lerin..

  • So, I thought the majority had very nice singing voices tonight. With the right song sooooo…..

Gina Dirawi35, and Hampus Nessvold29, has been charging for a long time. Now they lead the Melodifestivalen 2026 together.

For him it is the first time, for Dirawi it is the fourth.

And the program will be off to a flying start. Dirawi begins by talking about how fun it has been to lead Melodifestivalen over the years.

– Then six weeks go by and you come out on the other side with bigger hair and a smaller nose and feel that “God, I want to do this again”.

They also talk about the criticism of SVT that came when the channel went out with the choice of presenter.

– There has been a bit of criticism, hatred, is it really appropriate to take someone with that origin this year? says Nessvold.

– And I just want to say, you can certainly lead Mello and come from Värnamo, says Dirawi and turns to Nessvold, who is from Värnamo in particular.

The fact that she herself recently came out and defended that she, as a Palestinian, leads the Melodifestivalen at a time when Israel’s participation in the Eurovision song contest has been strongly questioned, she does not mention anything about.

Nessvold then jokes that this year’s after party is planned to take place at Harpsund, a nod to the criticism that the prime minister Ulf Kristersson had private functions at the representative farm.

He then reminds that you can only call in and vote from Sweden.

– If you are abroad, for example at a steakhouse in Cardiff, then you simply have yourself to blame, he says.

The comment is a clear slip up Dermot Clemenger who fled Sweden when he was accused of buying sex. Aftonbladet later found him at a steakhouse in Cardiff.

Aftonbladet found Dermot Clemenger in Cardiff.

Hampus Nessvold: “A lot already has rumours”

When Aftonbladet talks to the presenters after Friday’s rehearsal, they are satisfied and happy.

– It felt nice. We’ve had such a long upload and now you’re ready to just drive and see how it lands, see how we work on stage. But it felt so good, says Dirawi.

They think they have a good balance on the jokes and point out that they have gone through everything carefully beforehand.

– Much has already been rumoured, says Nessvold.

– Yes, we have cleaned, says Dirawi.

What they have removed from the script they do not say, but they say that it was about even more daring jokes.

– Yes, God yes, she says.

Gina Dirawi: “Discussed all the jokes”

Nessvold says they are not mean to anyone, and that has been important to them. However, they want to test the limits and see how far they can go.

– That’s what Mello should be, too, I think, otherwise it will be boring, he says and is agreed by Dirawi.

– We have already discussed all the jokes, what is fun, what is not fun. Mello must be a program where you can go a little too far sometimes. Then you go back and you have a warm balance, then I think you can joke about anything, she says.

Oh oh oh - we want to have fun
