In recent years, the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at K Hospital K has continuously developed and applied new techniques to improve the efficiency of treatment. In which, promoting the implementation of modern endoscopic surgical methods is one of the priority spearheads.
Recently, under the direction of the associate professor, Dr Pham Van Binh, deputy director of the K Hospital K, for the first time in Vietnam, the doctors of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the K Hospital successfully implemented the technique of transvaginal endoscopic surgery (VNOTES) to treat endometrium cancer in the patient Nguyen Th. L., 52 years old.
The patient was admitted to the hospital with abnormal postmenopausic vaginal bleeding. After a clinical examination, the completion of in -depth tests, combined with a multidisciplinary consultation of the K Hospital, the patient was diagnosed with cancer of the END END END and was indicated for VNOTE laparoscopic surgery.
The operation lasted 2 hours, the surgical team was led by Dr. Le Tri Chineh; Dr. Pham Thi Dieu Ha, Master Tran Viet Hoang, in collaboration with the anesthesia team of the specialist doctor II Nguyen Ngoc Quynh.
Doctors have carried out total hysterectomy and bilateral dissection of pelvic lymph nodes. The operation went without problem, after the operation, the patient had absolutely no external scar and the pain was much less than with other gynecological surgical methods. The patient recovered quickly and was able to get out of the hospital three days after the operation.
Previously, Dr. Le Tri Chineh and his team successfully applied the VNOTE technique in other benign gynecological surgeries such as surgery for ablation of ovarian tumors, total hysterectomy to treat large uterine fibroids, etc.
The concept notes (Natural Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery orifice was born in 2004 in the United States. This technique combines the advantages of laparoscopic surgery (clear images, delicate handling) and vaginal surgery without leaving external scars.
The VNOTES technique was initially applied in the treatment of benign gynecological diseases: hysterectomy, annexectomy (ovaries, fallopian tubes), and was then indicated for gynecological cancers at an early stage.
The surgery practiced through the natural cavity of the body, the vagina, without having to make an incision in the abdominal wall, presents the following remarkable advantages: no external scars, reduction of postoperative pain, reduction of the risk of infection of the surgical site, rapid recovery, patients return to normal life and work earlier with better quality of life Treatment, while guaranteeing oncological and aesthetic principles.
The associate professor, Dr. Pham Van Binh, deputy director of the K Hospital K, said that the initial success of the implementation of the VNOTE techniques at K Hospital opens not only more safe and not very invasive surgical options for patients, but also marks a significant change in the application of advanced techniques, incorporating international trends in treatment.
“In the coming times, we will continue to train and develop this technique to expand indications, offering more optimal treatment opportunities to patients with gynecological cancer as well as benign gynecological diseases,” shared Dr. Binh.
