Jakarta, NOW Online
The General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya, invited all NU administrators at all levels to work together to prepare the 35th NU Congress legally, with dignity, and in accordance with the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART).
This invitation was conveyed by Gus Yahya when reading Statement Letter Number: 4937/PB.23/A.II.07.08/99/12/2025 concerning Response to Tabayun Rais Aam: Clearing Up Problems, Looking to the Futurein the PBNU Building Lobby, Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12/2025).
“Let us together, in the spirit of deliberation, prepare the Congress legitimate and in accordance with the AD/ART as an honorable and constitutional solution to resolve all problems and take NU forward to a better future,” said Gus Yahya reading the contents of the letter.
Gus Yahya emphasized that the dynamics that have occurred recently should not lead to prolonged divisions that could damage NU as a big house together. He believes that the organization’s energy should be focused on service and community work, not internal conflicts.
He also invited all NU managers at various levels to continue working to manage the jamiyah, without being affected by the ongoing tension.
“For this reason, I invite all parties, including myself, to forgive each other and open a new page with a spirit of brotherhood (brotherhood),” he said.
Regarding KH Miftachul Akhyar’s Tabayun Rais Aam PBNU Letter, Gus Yahya assessed that the contents of the letter have an interrelated context and cannot be understood separately.
“If we are willing to see and understand the entire context completely and honestly, it will be very clear that the decision of the Syuriyah Daily Meeting at the Aston Hotel on 20 November 2025 and all its derivative decisions, up to the claim of the appointment of the Acting General Chair, are actions that have no basis,” he explained.
Apart from not having a strong basis, Gus Yahya considered that the series of decisions conflicted with NU’s AD/ART and were therefore null and void.
“Therefore, as a congressman responsible for safeguarding the Jamiyah constitution, I reject this decision and all subsequent products, not for personal interests,” he stressed.
According to Gus Yahya, this stance was taken solely to protect the dignity, constitution and organizational structure inherited by the founders of Nahdlatul Ulama, while ensuring that NU continues to walk on constitutional rails and the values of brotherhood.
