A recent study,FAVOR III China, involving 3,221 patients, investigated the role of Guide-Directed Medical Therapy (GDMT) following Complete Functional Revascularization (FCR) in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (ICP). FCR was defined by a residual functional synergy based on the quantitative flow ratio (qfr) between the intervened vessel and the 0 cardiac surgery score, applied only to vessels with qfr ≤0.80. The study aimed to assess the additional benefit of GDMT on a functionally optimized revascularization basis.

Guide-Led Medical therapy associated with Long-Term Risk Reduction

In the study, GDMT was defined as the combination of single or dual antiplatelet therapy, beta-blockers, and statins, with or without angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers, adhering to current recommendations. patients were categorized based on complete adherence (compliance with all 4 drug types) or incomplete adherence (0-3 drug types). Over three years, major adverse cardiac and brain events (MACCE) occurred in 313 patients (10.2%). While no notable differences were observed between the GDMT and no-GDMT groups in the first year, from the second year onward, the MACCE rate was significantly lower in the GDMT group (HR adjusted 0.66,
