‘Guard shift’ is a film directed and written by the filmmaker Petra Blonde Foxin a co-production between Switzerland and Germany released in 2025. The film delves realistically and deeply human into the world of nursing, following Floriaa dedicated nurse who, in the midst of the chaos of a demanding shift, faces critical situations that test her vocation, commitment, and personal strength. The actress Leonie Benesch He intensely embodies the main character, offering a critically acclaimed performance.
The film has received recognition on the international festival circuit, including the Award for Best Editing in the Official Section of the Seville Festival and has been selected to represent Switzerland in the Oscar shortlist for Best International Film. The City Council of l’Alfàs del Pi encourages citizens to participate in these movie afternoons in an iconic theater like the Cine Romacombining leisure, culture and solidarity. This series has established itself as an outstanding event, not only for the quality of the films it programs, mostly auteur films with committed themes, but also for its strong social component.
Throughout his 17 years of experiencehe The Solidarity Film Series has programmed more than 600 films and raised more than 65,000 eurosdonated entirely to different NGOs and humanitarian aid entities. Thanks to this initiative, numerous organizations have received support, including Doctors Without Borders, Aid in Action, Amnesty International, Colored Stars, Save the Children, Aborigen View or Aspanion. In the last campaign, all funds went to the association Juita, Friends of the Sahrawi People of the Marina Baixa.
