This double-digit growth is mainly supported by three business lines. The first is connectivity, which includes data transmission and internet access, focused on the corporate segment. The second corresponds to cybersecurity services, the demand for which has increased in a context of greater frequency of incidents and digital attacks.
The third line is the data center business, driven by the inauguration, in October of last year, of its second data center in Lima, located in Lurín, “one of the most modern in the country with Tier 3 certification“, stressed the head of Gtd Peru. He added that around 60% of the growth recorded so far this year comes from connectivity, while the remaining 40% is distributed between cybersecurity, data centers and other services.
The arrival of the Romero Group

Regarding the entry of the Romero Group into the data center business, Grasshopper explained in detail that Gtd has partnered with InfraCorp, the group’s investment platform, with the purpose of strengthening and expanding this business. Lurín and its next phases
Regarding expansion plans, Grasshopper indicated that the initial investment in the first phase of the Lurín data center was US$ 13 million. “The complete project includes four phases and an approximate investment of US$ 50 million. To date we have put into operation the first phase, which has been well received in the market”, he commented.
According to the manager, The second phase is considered in the 2026 budget, with a view to starting operations in 2027. “That will depend on the speed with which the first phase is completed. To date, The first phase of the Lurín data center operates with an occupancy close to 20%. “With a single project we could immediately raise that figure to 40%, 50% or even 60%. Therefore, in 2026 we will continue working with the first phase, but we are also scheduled to begin the construction of the second stage in the second half of that year, with a view to it entering into operation in 2027.“, accurate.

Third data center in sight?
When asked about the possibility of building a third data center, given that the first is in Surco and the second in Lurín, he indicated that the deployment of a third infrastructure is on the company’s agenda. “The idea is to build it outside of Lima and, most likely, in a city far from the coast. Today we are evaluating alternatives, still in a very preliminary stage, but the issue is already on the table and in due course we will have to make decisions.”, he advanced.

The executive recalled that the two data centers in Lima are part of a regional network of 11 centers distributed in Peru, Chile and Colombia, all interconnected. “That means that a client who has their main data in the Lurín data center can back it up in Medellín, Colombia, or in one of the ones we have in Santiago, Chile. This regional presence offers very good options to the market and guarantees the operational continuity that businesses require.”, he highlighted.

Given the competitive dynamics of services to the corporate sector and the high demand for connectivity, Gtd is already working on an expansion strategy for the period 2026-2030. “We are developing an investment plan that we should complete in the coming months. The group is convinced of betting on Peru, and we believe that, in light of the results obtained in recent years, there is a lot of potential and room for growth.”, he stated.

Insecurity and impact on connectivity
Citizen insecurity is also affecting, to a certain extent, companies that provide communications services. So, Mavila acknowledged that vandalism has increased. “We are experiencing more cuts and theft of cables and equipment. It is a problem that not only affects Gtd, but the entire industry. This forces us to invest more in maintenance because the quality of service cannot be compromised.”, he noted.
The Gtd leader specified that, despite this problem, the company maintains double-digit growth. “Our strategy is focused more on quality than price. We are probably not the cheapest operator, but we seek to differentiate ourselves by proximity, reliability and agility when serving customers”, he concluded.
