Even years after its release, Grand Theft Auto V remains a sales monster, reaching numbers higher than many current releases. The rockstar game has kept impressive consistency, selling about 5 million copies every quarter – and this time it was no different.
Take-two has just revealed that GTA V has reached 215 million copies sold globally. The last update had been in February this year, which means that 5 million units were sold in the last three months.
In addition to GTA V’s enormous sales success, Take-Two also stated that there was a strong demand for the GTA+subscription service. According to the company, the service “surpassed the predictions”with revenue presenting even a growth compared to the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, other GTA franchise games also had a positive quarter. The series as a whole has officially arrived at 450 million copies sold, an increase of 10 million since the last update in February.
Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to perform well, with another 4 million units sold in the last quarter, reaching a total of 74 million. The Red Dead franchise, in turn, already has 100 million copies sold.
Take-TWO franchise update (additional sales in the last 3 months):
- GTA: 450 million (+10 million)
- Red Dead Redemption: 100 million (+5 million)
- Borderlands: 93 million (+2 million)
- Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise: 76 million (+3 million)
With GTA VI, it is expected to sell even more than its predecessor. For the Craig Mazin showrunner, GTA VI should be behind the Bible in sales.
